Questions to Start Seeking Revelation on the Body of Christ

by Wes Bridel on September 17, 2009

in Calling

In the former chapters we discussed the fact that God the Father intended, before he created the world, that He would have a family, and that in and through Christ, he would reconcile everything back to Himself and restore and fulfill His intention for Man and creation. Yet even His disciples had not fully grasped the essence and extent of His will after they were sent to preach the Kingdom of God. We mentioned before that Peter had a hard time with the fact that the Gentiles were also included in God’s promise and would be regarded as the same in Christ with the Jewish people. (Acts. 10)

  1. Review the idea of Manhood in the former posts, and having done so – please explain why, as believers, we are in the Body of Christ.
  2. What do you think marriage signifies in the spiritual sense of us being the Bride of Christ?
  3. How does one become a member of Christ’s Body?
  4. What does it imply to be a living stone in the Temple or House of God?
  5. After having received the Spirit of Sonship, do you think we automatically become a Son in the Family of God? Why or why not?

Questions for Meditation and Application

  1. What is your role as a part of the Corporate Body of Christ?
  2. The Church is a spiritual as well as a social entity. What do you think that means?
  3. How do you think you should relate to the Body of Christ in terms of using your gifts to grow into the fullness of Christ?
  4. Read the following scriptures in Hebrews and answer this question: what is the difference between being a member of a local gathering and being a part of the Church in the Heavenly place?

Heb 10:25 [NIV]

25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Heb 12:22-24 [NIV]

22But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, 24to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

This is post is _Part 7_, the last in the series The Body of Christ and our Role in It. To use this as a growth tool to better understand your own calling, you might start by reading the explanation of this series, Pt 1, Pt 2, Pt 3. Pt 4, Pt 5 and Pt 6.
