After sending this mesage, I realized that it might give the impression that I'm against study or learning from other men. That is absolutely not the case as both are ways to move closer to what God is teaching us. Everything has it's place and season. My point was more something like this. I was running a couple weeks ago and all of a sudden I understood a teaching on a certain topic. I had actually read, listened to, and discussed this topic with others before and so I was not ignorant of it. But God revealed during this run an understanding of this truth that I had not yet posessed. to this day, I can not explain it as powerfully as I understood it that day in a flash. I still am in awe of this teaching, but when I try to share it, the words come out sounding like stuff I might have said to someone a year ago. God gave the understanding in a way that words and Man can not. Of course this revelation could have just as easily happened while I was studying the word, or while learning from another brother (as surely both have happened to me), but the real thing, the joy of life, is being taught directly by God in whatever setting that happens to be in. Whether that is in a theological understanding, or a change of heart, or whatever new thing he is bringing. does this make sense? Is it in line with your thinking Tony? Thanks again. wes

Thanks for your comment Tony, I enjoyed reading it. for the most part I agree with you. I'll add to it a little bit...I don't think God's primary purpose has ever been the Gospel of Salvation, although perhaps a majority of the Church for the majority of it's history has understood it as such. His purpose has always been to raise Sons who would reveal His Glory to Creation. Adam walked away from it, & the early Israelites couldn't grasp or handle it and thus turned from it. The early Church clearly understood this as the teaching is constant throughout the NT, yet it has been lost until recently. As much as the we like to claim Jer 31 for ourselves, we have not yet attained this level. We are for the most part still taught by men and study, but more and more the Spirit of the Lord is teaching those who are seeking Him. (As for me, the spicket dribbles, but I'm confident that as I continue to drink, He'll open a gusher.)

I haven't yet written much about last months trip to Israel, but I've put up a pretty detailed story of my previous trip. You are right that the scales are being removed from the eyes of the Jews and as Paul said, what an amazing blessing in the Spirit that will mean for us! A cool book recounting the first 150 years of this is "your people shall be my people" by Don Finto. Thanks again Tony, I love your contribution & understanding and hope you'll contribute more!

Blessings Wes,
i just happened upon your Gospel of the Kingdom articles, great job and an interesting read.
I attend a Vineyard Church in Australia with my wife & five children. I am no scholar & I know John Wimber (Vineyard movement) certainly taught along these lines also, but one thing I found interesting while "chewing the cud" on the Gospel of Jesus was it's Transitional form.

As you have stated, originally the "kingdom" revolved around the "now but not yet" principle
that Jesus, to the Father' Glory, came to show the nearness of the Kingdom of God in himself, to firstly the "lost sheep of Israel"- the Jews. During his ministry he displayed signs & wonders to coincide with his authority as Messiah, to choose his disciples, to fulfill the Law, proclaim repentance of sin & introduce the new covenant.

With His death & resurrection we now have a transition for the Gospel to extend to all people in all nations, The time of the gentile (ingrafting/ Olivet discourse) had come to reflect God' perfect Holiness, not wishing that any should perish. The cross was a "scandal" to the Jews,
they were to be made envious, as the Gospel of Salvation was now the prime purpose of God.

This could not be preached until after the crucifixion occured, the full payment for the penalty of sin - death - was now substantiated in a legal transaction - 'the just for the unjust"

The gospel of the kingdom does remain, as the Holy Spirit lives in the born-again believer from the moment of Repentance & Trust in the Lord Jesus. It is evidenced by continual examination of oneself in the light of scripture, discipleship, prayer, obedience, witnessing effectively to others the truth of both God' wrath & loving-kindness etc as part of our sanctification until we are glorified. Amen.

Remember the time of the gentile is coming to a close & the Grace of God is soon to return
to Israel - the Bride will be taken - His return is imminent.

How does this fit with your understanding brother?

In Christ alone
