Walk by Faith – Pt 1 (Mt 14:13-36)
When we put trust in Jesus, what happens? He will do miracles! Yesterday, we looked at the two greatest prophets being cast out by God’s people. Today and tomorrow we’ll look at Jesus’ two major miracles of Ch.14, and hopefully come to better understand how we can see more of the miraculous in our lives.
Let’s see if we can find a pattern in these two miracles:
- A difficult situation
- A humble need and dependent heart
- A step of faith: Those who saw the miracle put their life into His hands.
- Jesus is the focus of total trust
- He is the source of our provision and power.
Jesus is ever compassionate and faithful. We discussed that most of us live, think and act or react to the world around us like an orphan. But through Jesus, we are changed. We have the most amazingly faithful Father, full of love, mercy and goodness. A life in Jesus by faith is the doorway to more than the Father’s love, but also the Father’s power, even the fullness of His life.
We must confront any situation knowing that Jesus is King over all and can overcome anything. Whatever our situation, when we maintain a humble heart and live our lives completely dependent on Him, we can watch what our Father is doing and take the step of faith He requires. He will be our provision.
“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. 12Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.13Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” (Jn 14:11-14)
This means, the life of Jesus, the Son of God, can become our life as well. And it is the good pleasure of the Father for us to have this life if we have faith in Jesus and walk and abide in the Spirit.
